Ex-Police AU's (buying one in brissy)

Hay guys iv been looking for an AU2 around the 12-14k mark but im having a decent amount of trouble as 90% of them have had been thrashed to death.
Anyway I drove an AU2 Ex-Police 2001 88,000km they wanted 15.2K but I thought that was too expensive.... was it? The car was in great condition but I felt the price may of been a tad too high compared to what most people are asking.

Im just wondering to all brisbane members does anyone know where I can pickup and AU2/3 Ex-Police car with less then 150,000km on the clock for around the 12-14k mark? I thought they would be at auctions... just don't know where?

Any idea on the price I can be expecting to pay?

Thanks for any help

Re: Ex-Police AU's (buying one in brissy)

15k is a tad too much i think considering it would have had a good caining or 2 in its life. like you said try the auctions (government fleet) and one will eventually turn up there for a damn sight less than 15k.
why do you want an ex cop car anyways? i was under the impression that they didnt really have any perfomance mods done to them any more? i may be wrong though.

i can find out what time they are on for you... i bought one ex cop car, from fowles but it was a waste for me, i had to replace all the lowered gear anyway to save the front bar on driveways.. i paid 14k for S2 with 67k on the dial... Been a great car bar the fact that they are just too low for cabs

Re: Ex-Police AU's (buying one in brissy)

Thanks alot for the reply guys.

Iv found it seems to be the private sales people giving them more of a flogging the biggest thing seems to be worn out steering.

I checked fowles website but they don't seem to list all the cars on their site that actually go through. Do cop cars often go through fowles?
RaceCraft how long ago did you pick up yours for that price? 2000 or 2001 model?

Actually RaceCraft if you know when the actual cop cars go through fowles that would be great :D

Iv been looking out for a Venom Red AU2 but have had 0 luck so far found one but was AU3 column shift sedan six seater.

So hard to find a good car these days Id definatly get a non-cop car if its in good condition and the right colour

if you want a cheap car thats what i would be getting in all honesty. no one really wants a column shift or bench seat so they tend to go alot cheaper. also someone on here got a written off AU from the auctions for $1000. the body was absolutley ****ed but the engine and gearbox were complete and in good working order i believe as were the bucket seats and steering column. just saying as that extra $1000 wreck will provide all neccesary parts to make it floor shift and bucket seats.....minus the $500 or so engineering report but you still should walk out way infront if you do it this way.

I got an AU2 recently for $11k and it was a column shift six seater as well. Cost me $400 to convert it. Not too hard at all when you know what to do.
