Anyone seen the SUV based on the Falcon platform? I think Ford Australia should work on bringing the Expedition here instead, even produce it locally. The 2003 model is supposed to be good with electric 3rd row seats, IRS etc......
(I'm only writing this cos I'm bored....)
but they are two different cars altogether! the Expedition would compete with Patrol and Landcruiser, and these cars and not volume sellers! it's the soft-off-roaders like Outback, Forester, M Class, Santa Fe *shudder* that are doing well and that the Falcon 4WD will be aimed at.
manufacturing the expedition locally just cannot be justified financialy. they would NEVER get a return on their investmet, let alone make some money on the actual cars!

Apparently, the 4wd Falcon is supposed to look nothing like the Falcon, but only shares powertrain and chassis. Would be more SUVish than an Outback. The 4wd Commodore will be like an Outback. The 4wd 'falcon' too close to Explorer sales if you ask me. Sell the Expedition here anyways I say! The Bronco sold like Hotcakes here. Ford Aust. can't keep up with demand for F-series, maybe that's why they aren't airing those cool commercials anymore?
you must distinguish between soft roaders and off roaders. the falcon 4wd will not have a dual range gearbox, while the explorer has one as far as i am aware. they will also be marketed as two different products, in two different sectors.
the only ford product that Raptor might eat into is the Falcon station wagon!
