My brother is looking into buying a car, and he has it narrowed down to 2:
- '97 Toyota Corolla Sedan 1.6L at $14,990 with approx 80,000kms on the clock....manual tranny
- '01 Ford Laser Hatch 1.6L at $16,700 with 40,000kms on the clock and about 15months still on the new car warranty....manual tranny.

The frontrunner is obviously the Laser at the moment, he has driven the corolla and liked it, and has been in the laser (not driven it).

Just wondering if it looks like a good deal for the laser...to me it does.

(PS) I find it funny how he wants to get a Ford considering a few years ago he switched to being a Holden person - just because i'm a Ford nut - and continually says, "Ford's are shit, Holden's are heaps better".

lasers are great. In the dealership we never had to do any repairs on these things just servicing. Go the laser. Looks good with mags and tinted windows too!

Considering I own an '01 Laser.. They are a great car. Good to drive & comfortable on long trips.
Get great k's from a tank of petrol too.

hey FM do you have any figures on fuel consumtion and how far you usually get on a tank....he will be living in Wang (to give an idea of where he will be driving most of the time)

We usually get around 550-600 on a tank with a few litres (5-10) left over when we fill up. That's in suburban Melbourne in mostly stop start traffic.

Feul consumption is normally around the 8.0L mark dropping to 6.5-7 on the highways..

I bought a 00 Laser for my Mum about 18mths ago,
It hasn't missed a beat and she just loves it, Go the Laser!!
By the way my Dad was born in Walla Walla and I have a lot af relo's down around there(not that I have met any of them) maybe we are related?
