Hey, yesterday afternoon on my way home from work i was followed and pulled up by Mr Plod in his pursuit car. He waltzed up to the window and asked me where i was going etc... (mind you i lived 2 blocks away!!) Asked for my licence and breath tested me... Whilst looking at my licence he asked "so is there an address on here?" I pointed to it for him and thought is he messin with my head? Is he wanting me to be a smart ass to him??
He then asked me if i know the legal ride height rule and who lowered my car?? I said i wasnt aware of the exact height mininum and pedders lowered it... He got the magic wheel on a stick out and was pretty disgusted with the fact it didnt roll beyond any of the sills on the side so he said "you will see me in a minute" and trotted back to the car and i thought great, a canary. But he came back with a fine for
"USE VEH EXCEED PERMITTED DIMENSIONS" $169
He gave me this instead of a canary because "if i give you a canary, you will just get it off and lower it again" But he doesnt wanna see my car gettin around that low again and off he let me go....
Not that im complaining but i just dont understand his thinking?? A guess a fine for that amount is better than getting a roadworthy and stuffing about raising the car...
Anyway, just thought i would share that. I should have fined him for messin with my head and giving me a fine that doesnt make sense.... :)

You get a $169 fine with a canary as well, and you also have to go get a RW. I think you got off very lightly. I hope if I ever get pulled over and dicked, it's by the guy who pulled you over
Thats what i dont understand.... By giving me a fine he was trying to teach me a lesson but i would have had to pay it anyway, and get my car up to scratch.... He really confused me but i was happy to accept...
He could have picked on me a bit more (tinting, induction, few oil leaks, front tyres) but didnt... I think he was really just waiting for me to bite and be a smart ass... I was actually toying with the idea of asking about running the wheel under his XR8, i know it wouldnt have passed..... bit i bit my tongue :)

i reckon you got off pretty well...
what you have to remember is that the cops have an obligation to penalise you if they find something wrong, and because you weren't being a smart-ass he probably let you off easily. Most of the young people who get crapped on by mr. plod are smart asses trying to impress their mates.
my bro and i were crossing the nullarbor and got pulled over and searched (they were doing everyone, going in both directions) and the cop found some green plant matter that we shouldn't have had... we weren't being smart to him and just let him get on with his job and he only gave us a small fine for having "utensiles" in the car...
I think he was more interested in our mint Sandman pano...
Is this "magical wheel" 10cm in diametre, or is the limit something else?
/me ponders the fact that if a supercheap auto trolley jack won't fit under the sills of his car, this magical wheel won't have a hope...
Actually, my car would be roughly 100mm off the ground with no-one sittin in it (but only feakin just), except two little hooks that hang down just in front of the lower control arm to body mounts, not sure what they're for, but they look like tow hooks wtf? They hang about 1 or 2 cm further down than the rest of the car, the bastards. No defects here yet though
oneredED: i got a defect for illegal ride height, the whole car was ok except for the tie down hooks that you mention!!! i couldnt believe i got a defect for them, but it only took a minute with a big-ass adjustable wrench to fold them in on a nice angle, making the car legal :s6:
