First Drive in BA XR8

Brought home from our Holden Dealership tonite a BA XR8 sedan 5 speed, and i got to say this thing flies. I was surprised how well this thing goes and the induction noise is awesome. After all the bagging the magazines and people give the XR8 i was not expecting it to go very well but i love it. I always said i would buy a XR6T but after driving the 8 i would buy one of these. Had a G tech along for the run and ran a 14.3 first run with heaps of wheel spin and than a 13.8 @ 178km/hr. These things really fly and the car is standard, you have to keep the traction control on or it just lights up the rears easy as, very very impressive car.

Re: First Drive in BA XR8

I need to drive a Boss powered BA. Maybe the driving experience could convince me that they don't suck as much as I accuse them of.... Or maybe Wheels & MOTOR just suck.. everyone seems to be getting high 13s out of their BA XR8s while the magazines only get mid 14s...

Re: First Drive in BA XR8

yes, ide say more of case of mag writers suck lol

But having said that these things take a while to get used to, take Rod, Mark (XRFPV8) or myself we have simple bolt ons and have got way under 14, rod under 13

Give them a few runs under the belt and they really loosen up and show their legs

Yeah, that 13.59 @ 102.84 in your sig is mighty impressive. That 5.4 may not be as bad as I make it out to be...

Re: First Drive in BA XR8

The boss could do a 13.5 with no vibration and no harshness and you have to watch the taco otherwise you hit that very obtrusive rev limiter. Rodderz is yours even revvier than the standard motor, they feel like they want to rev to 6800rpm. You'll never be late in a Ford V8

Re: First Drive in BA XR8

Yes the rev limiter comes in quick, especially with the underdrive pullies which make it rev up alot quicker, 1st gear doesnt last long, even though the gearing is pretty long compared to some others. Will be interesting to see what the series 2 (sorry, MKll) does with a 6-speed manual and 3.46 diff

I would suggest that until you drive one HOW can you bag it, basing your arguments on a journalist's opinion is just that, repeating someone else's opinion which is neither right nor wrong, rather their take on the drive.
