Are lasting impressions... I went and looked at the BA's today, and im not impressed at all. Perferated velour is so 80s, the dash is horn, the centre console looks horn, but looks VERY plastic, the exterior looks ok, but front is a bit droopy, brakes are huge, so are calipers, paint is very yum.

I wouldnt put down 40k+ on a fairmont tho, no freaking way. They only had fairmonts at this dealer, if the fairmont looks average, then the XT must look ever worse.

The XR's better hurry up and be around, otherwise im not very happy with what i saw. If anything the engine is the best thing ford could have done, it still looks too much alike an AU, big, sloopy, and 4x4 suspension.

The pictures online look so much nicer than what it does in real life. Maybe big rims and lowering and it would be nice, otherwise i'll keep the EF anyday

Of course it looks like AU - who ever said it wouldn't? It looks just like an AU but a few years older ie. a fatter arse. I've always called it AU 4. I don't see much wrong with that actually.

South you are entitled to your own opinion... but I'm certain you'll change it once you see barras driving around town, mixing in traffic.

Was it just a Fairmont? No Fairmont Ghias?

I'm in love with the Ghia at my local dealer.. It has such presence, low with its 17 inch wheels. Not to mention the interior - way ahead of the Calais in my opinion.

Then theres the XR6T they had (that was owned by Ford - and is to be destroyed)... PURN HORN!!!

i guess EB and ED should have been EA 2, EA 3 (EB ii) and EA 4.
hell, VX and VY should be VT 3 and VT 4 as well
The BA has had a huge change over the AU. Ford never said the BA was all new, and it ain't going to be. $25 million to change each door, don't think that was ever going to happen for a mid cycle face lift (yes, face lift).
so, of course there are going to be resemblances.

I must admit that after all the fuss on this website about how good the falcon interior looked, as well as the magazine pictures, I was expecting a little better than I saw. Maybe my expectations were too high. I thought the dash plastic was just terrible and the centre console looked a little - I guess the word 'fake' comes to mind. I don't believe that it affects my opinion of the car too much as the exterior looks very nice and I would have no problem putting down the bucks for the right coloured fairmont as I don't believe there is any better value out there. Just don't buy one of those red ones because I saw one of them in the flesh and was ready hurl - it is a shithouse colour for the stylish BA.
