FoMoCo gets MiniDisc option

Quote:
I recently picked up a brochure for the new Mazda 626 and one of the possible accessories is a Minidisc player.
Saw this in the minidisc news group...... don't mazda and ford share the same radio's etc ? Any chance we can get this option in australia ?

Minidisc is so nice to use.

I rather like the look of the new optional colour LCD sat nav system in the AU3 Ghias etc. Mmm.. might have to save a few more bucks for the AV equivalent next year..

A factory MP3 player would be pretty sweet, too. Around 165 songs on a single CD. Mmmm.... :-)

I agree with that. They had that system in a T2 TE at the MMS. Looked real good to me. You need the premium dash for that system but a smaller unit is available for TE 3 down that does away with the ash tray. Only seen Ford pictures of the ash tray unit but from memory it cost about $2600 fitted. Made the dash mounted TV type screen look like a bargin. (well kind of)

Knowing Mazda Japan, they'd charge an absolute fortunate for their system. I reckon it's better off getting an aftermarket one. A Sony one would probably cost you half what dealers would charge since Mazda Japan charge Australia such a high price for audio systems. Of course, you could try and scam a free one when purchasing a new car :s2:

the first thing I do when I get a car is rip out the standard stereo and run all new wiring, install new head unit, stacker, speakers, fuses etc etc...

wouldnt waste my time with a factory unit.
