Ford Motor Company NZ and the Auckland Mustang Owners Club put on All Ford day at the FMC NZ head quarters in Manukau City, Auckland on Sunday.
There was a great turn out, mostly… The Mustang club(s) did a great job with every conceivable Mustang represented (except maybe the Tickford-converted 2000/1 model). There were lots of vintage Model T & A’s and many American Fords from the 20’s, 30’s & so on. There were heaps of great Aussie 60’s & 70’s Falcons. The RS club was there with a great display of Escorts & Serrias.
Walton Special Vehicles was well represented with their RHD conversion F-Series trucks. Check out the beautiful Harley-Davidson Edition below...
It was the modern Fords that weren’t greatly represented. There were three E-series Falcons, including an EB GT which won ‘Best Australian’. My car (AU3 XR8) was the only AU that was there for the whole day (there was a brief appearance by an AU XR8 ute). There was one BA XR8 and a brief appearance by a BA XR6 ute, and one of the Motor Companies XR6. The Motor Company also had a Focus ST170 on display. There was one Taurus and one Capri Convertible. No T-Series. No Mondeo.
Anyway, I was disappointed in the turn out by Tickford owners. I think this might have been due to poor advertising. I only found out about it by accident (following a few Mustang links on the web and ending up on the Auckland Owners site that had a (smallish) add for it). I believe it was advertised in a few local papers, and the NZ Herald on Saturday morning.
Did anyone else know about it? Attend? Want to but couldn’t be bothered? Just interested to know whether it will be worth bothering attending these sorts of events in the future. If the NZ FPV & Tickford Owners Club can get an Auckland chapter together maybe it will be better attended by the modern Aussie Fords next event…??
I also thought that it was great that FMC NZ provided all the trophies - well done! However, I did think they could have put more effort into a presentation of the current range of vehicles.
Here are some piccys of the event…

Jeeze mate, i reckon there is a great selection of really interesting fords there.. Sure it doesnt look like there is that many modern models, but the range and quality of cars thats there looks effing fantastic. Looks like was in a bit of a shitty location though.. Looks like a factory or supermarket car park. Surely they could have chosen somewhere better than that eh? Great stuff nonetheless..
Those gt40's are fakers i assume? What spec's are they do hyou know?are they they kiwi made ones?

The location is Ford Motor Company NZ head office car park. It's not as bad as it looks :-)
I'm not sure that all the GT40s were made in NZ, but a couple of them definitely were.
