Ford Employee Chat Session - Expressions of Interest
Guys we have organised for a Ford employee chat session to be organised for the IRC channel and are looking for expressions of interest from donating members.
The Ford employee we have arranged for this session is Ian Mearns, Manager - Sales & Field Operations.
At this stage we have no set date, but is tentatively slotted in to occur sometime next month, so if you are interested in participating let us know.
About Ian Mearns:
Ian has worked for Ford for eighteen years undertaking numerous roles including Sales, Fleet, Marketing, Consumer Finance and Used Cars.
Ian has spent three years working in Europe and North America on future product planning which saw him involved with the development of the Escort, Focus, Mondeo and the new Focus C-Max.
Ian is responsible for four key areas within Ford Australia's Marketing and Sales department. The areas and their functions are:
Sales Programming
This area determines how many vehicles Ford Australia is going to build, import, export and sell (in total and also for each nameplate). Sales Programming also forecast the size of the Industry, the composition of the Industry (segmentation) and the market share that Ford will achieve.
Sales Planning and Distribution
This area decides the type and mix of vehicles that Ford Australia is going to build and import (model series, engines, transmissions, colours, options etc). Sales Planning and Distribution also determine production timing (Build Month) for each vehicle and distribute available production to Ford Dealers.
Sales Systems
This area provides all the IT resources required to allow vehicles to be ordered, built, invoiced, shipped and retailed. Ford's Vehicle Information System (VIS) allows Dealers to enquire on vehicles and make specification changes in 'live' time.
Field Operations
This area is responsible for all communications with both our Field staff and Dealers. Field Operations also assists Dealers with vehicle queries or any unusual specification changes. This area also establishes quarterly and monthly sales targets for all Ford Dealers.
Please express your interest by posting in this thread.

Isn't this going to be like asking the Chevron Texaco fuel anylist to the club meeting and then the first thing everyone wanted to know was why petrol went up 13c a litre overnight?
To elaborate for RPO, at the FPV-Tickford club meeting 2 months ago - they invited a guest speaker from a fuel company - guy was a scientist they got to talk about ethanol which was big story then - but the day before the meeting, petrol went up 13c a litre overnight - so everyone was bagging the shite out of this poor innocent guy, saying things like 'how do you justify this!'
We just need to make sure it's not the Romans throwing some poor Christian to the lions is all I meant.
Not sure I understand the format, but I'll be there.
Cheers
Jason
