Trust me it's pretty similar in the US. Over there they still have a lot of pride & heritage, but mainly in classics such as the GT40, Mustang and Cobra. I think it's a little diffent as the hero cars are more expensive but they still love them as much as we love GTs and Monaros. Also notice public reactions when an American company reborns a historic concept, the media is all over them... I must say though they put a lot of effort into them, I think they all look awesome.
