Ford Marketing Department Application Form

Standard Disclaimer

I think I have finally worked out why the Ford Marketing Department contains the sort of high quality individuals that have jointly been responsible for the "success" of the Mondeo, Probe, Cougar, Mustang and no doubt (on current form) the Focus as well.

The document below has been secreted out of the Human Resources Department by a stealth trained mouse for the edification of FF members.

Application for Employment - Sales and Marketing

This form should be completed reasonably neatly and in your own handwriting. For those who can't write we have designed a multiple choice form so that a simple X or YES/NO will suffice

Name: (an X will do)
Age: (if under 16 leave blank)

Q1. Do you have any marketing qualifications whatsoever?

A: Yes [ ] No [ ] What's marketing? [ ]

Lack of qualifications are not a barrier to entry

Q2. Does your IQ exceed your age?

A: Yes [ ] No [ ] How old am I? [ ]

Q3. Are you generally considered to be a complete tosser?

A: Yes [ ] No [ ] Don't Know [ ] Too busy wanking to answer [ ]

Q4. How many times have you used "market segmentation demographic" in a sentence today?

A: Less than 1 [ ] 2-5 [ ] What's a sentence? [ ]

Q5. In which end of a RWD car are the driven wheels?

A: Front [ ] Rear [ ] What's a car [ ]

Ford is an equal opportunity employer - vehicle knowledge is not a pre-requisaite for employment

Q6. Which of these marketing slogans do you prefer?

A: We had ignition temporarily [ ] No Boundaries except our marketing budget [ ] I'm excited [ ]

Q7. In your opinion what other vehicles would compete with the Focus ?

A: Explorer [ ] Getz [ ] What's a Focus [ ]

Don't worry if you answered "what's a Focus" - no one else knows either.

Q8. Can you keep a secret (we can)?

A: Yes [ ] No [ ] Not telling [ ]

Q9. What would you do with a million dollar advertising budget?

A: Spend it all on Falcon [ ] Have a really good party [ ] Spend it all on researching a new slogan [ ] Spend it all on Falcon [ ]

Q10. Have you ever conducted a market research clinic?

A: Yes but I had already made all the key decsions in advance [ ]
Yes but I didn't agree with the results [ ] What's a clinic? [ ]

Q11. Have you ever been accused of being in touch with reality?

A: Yes [ ] No [ ] Ummm.. like ...whos reality man? [ ]

Thank you for your time to complete this application. All applications will be reviewed on their merits by our team of highly trained computers. Any candidate looking as if they have potential will have their application forwarded to the GMH Sales and Marketing Department and we'll keep the rest.

Q9. What would you do with a million dollar advertising budget?
you left out one option for this question...

the correct answer is...

spend it all on schmoozing with other marketing types and impressing them with how big my budget is.

honestly russ, i wish i could argue with you on this one, however, i have seen one focus ad and one falcon ad in the West Australian newspaper. the only TV advertising is on during the V8's (which is a waste of advertising $$$ IMHO), but i dont watch much telly.

doesnt matter how good the product is, if people dont know about it, you wont sell it.

PS, my IQ is almost the same as my age, can i be considered? i am over 30 so that does mean my IQ is pretty good.

Does anyone know the Focus won the TUV award this year in Germany for the most reliable two year old used car? I saw numerous ads in the papers when i was in the UK a few months ago.

Rather than some goose apolagising for getting in the way with a giant picture frame in the Focus ad, perhaps they should have made the public more aware of this award, and it's two car of the year awards in Europe and North America.

Geeezzzzz the telly marketing in citys must be foul for little cars........

WE get at least 5 ads a day for the focus.......( and no I dont watch that much tv )

I just wish there was more ads for the ute & falcon as of course where I live they are the big sellers here......not much point seeing a little car in a ditch

My other thought seeing the Focus ad so much was it is a snazzy ad for the citys but what about the rally part of this car , isnt it rallied in Europe ........

MN...ford rally this car all round the world. colin mcrae has tipped a focus over in the most exotic of places....

they brought four to rally oz, but i dont think ford have levered off this event at all. maybe some of the ford marketing boys should look at subarus ads and some of mitsubishis old ads.
