Ford Marketing - Performance is Nothing Without Insurance!
Here is Ford telling everyone they want to be seen as the performance kings, and in doing so promoting the aftermarket modification of some really nice cars. In fact, Herrods would be seen to be doing a good job in this regard.
Well, my car will have same or less power than a HSV GTS 300, be half the value or less, yet cost more to insure (provided I find someone who will do it).
Ford Insure- WOFTAM. ANY mods = no insurance.
HSV got into trouble with this issue years ago. Trust me, Ford are heading the same way. If epople can't insure their cars, they won't be able to buy or keep them.

Not teenage, but hoon = yes.
Having said that, no fines, claims, or anything bad in last 5 years so I must be okay!

I'm not sure what the story is down south, but I got a quote from Shannons, with all my mods (blower, exhaust, suspension, wheels, etc) included and an agreed value and it was only about $150 per year more than my previous insurance when the car was stock.
They just required that they knew everything that had been done, it was legal, and knew your driving record.

Not totally true, as Ford Insure were ok with my exhaust when I got a quote, but NRMA ended being $200 cheaper. You don't exactly have ordinary mods Pete.

Just on modified car insurance, and don't know if this is still the case, but a mate of mine who was seriously into modified cars warned me years ago about a company that did heaps of insurance for heavily (and expensively) modified cars, which most companies wouldn't touch. The problem was the fine print. Prang it (not necessarily write off) and they decided what happened and they owned the wreck and paid the owner out an agreed amount, which was way below market value but all he could get as other companies wouldn't insure it. Then they'd break it up and sell off all the goodies at a lot more than what the owner got. People never found out about the fine print until they had a prang. Legalised form of theft, according to him.
2 - pay more because the car costs more to replace
if the car is not insured for it's real value (including cost of mods) then the price is cheaper however if it is written off then say good bye to the car and mods.
