Ford offers free V8 upgrade

Not a bad deal for those of you in NSW..........

Marketplace: Six buys eight
By David Berthon
The Sydney Morning Herald
Friday October 31 2003

This week, anyone can get a free step-up -- if you're choosing a car from the new Falcon range, that is.
In a deal giving buyers more than they pay for, City Ford in Sydney's Surry Hills and Rockdale has free upgrades on several models.

Buyers of six-cylinder Fairmonts can upgrade to a V8 for the same money -- pay $42,450 plus on-roads and save $5000.

Similarly, Futura buyers can upgrade to a Fairmont six at no-cost -- pay $38,015 plus on-roads and save $4435.

The Fairmont is equipped with four airbags, anti-lock brakes, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, alloy wheels, a six-CD in-dash player, velour trim and full power (including adjustable driver's seat) and convenience items.

City Ford has a few 2003 LPG-only Futura sedans and wagons with savings of $4000 -- pay $35,200 plus on-road costs for the auto sedan and $36,650 plus on-roads for the auto wagon.

The Futura's standard equipment includes dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, air-conditioning, cruise control, alloy wheels, CD player and central locking.

Falcon marginally outsold Holden's Commodore last month to become our best- selling car, but Ford says this was more luck than a planned outcome. To the end of September, Falcon sales were up by 18,360, or nearly half, over the same period last year.

Re: Ford offers free V8 upgrade

a free engine for $5000 is certainly appealing as is a free upgrade from Futura to Fairmont

I hate to mention it but that can't be the best for re-sale values...but who knows, it's only for a short time.

Thats a good point.

Why the heck are they doing it anyway. I thought BA's were selling good enough to not do this kind of thing.

Its somehting that the Dark-Side would do....not Ford. Its a bit disappointing actually. Maybe the owner of the dealership is trying to get in GP's pants or something.

HAHAHAH trying to get into GP's pants. Interesting theory but prob not the main reason :)

As it is only a short term promo I can not see having much, if any impact, on BA resale values

Re: Ford offers free V8 upgrade

This is what Ford did in NZ for the utes only, so I got the XLS ute with v8 option, normally $44000 NZ but $38500 on special.

They only did it for 2 months so shouldnt effect values to much.

Cheers
