Ford to Remove Auxiliary Lights
Ford Australia has received a ruling from the Department of Transport and Regional Services (DoTaRs) that the auxiliary lights fitted to the lower bumper of Fairmont Ghia, and planned for Fairlane and LTD vehicles, are not allowed under Australian Design Rule 13 (ADR13).
It has been determined that Ford's auxiliary lights are too low to be considered position lights and do not meet the switching, adjustment or photometric requirements of other lamp types.
While maintaining that the ADR 13 wording is unclear on the issue, Ford has immediately acted to remove these lights from future production of Fairmont Ghia and the upcoming long wheelbase models.
Ford will work closely with DoTaRs to examine options to replace lights on Fairmont Ghia vehicles already in the marketplace while minimising inconvenience to our customers.
There are no safety concerns with the lights.
