In todays Geelong Addy it says "Ford will stand down 5000 workers at Geelong and Broadmeadows next week following a dent in new car sales."
"Falling consumer confidence after the Septemeber 11 terrorist attack and "a flood of cheap imports" have been blamed for a downturn in the local market."

Nope, nothing about Toyota or Holden oe Mitsubishi for that matter. But they report alot about Ford in the Geelong Newspapers as Ford Is, as you would all know very big for Geelong as an employer.

Whoah!! :oo1: This is seriously not good.. certainly there's more to it than just Sep11 and "cheap imports"?? I can't believe that these two factors alone can cause the job cuts that are going to happen

The world economy is going through a down turn now. Hell it is hitting us here in the states. Europe has been in it for some time. lookslike you guys are gonna be getting it soon too.
I remember reading an article a few years ago saying that 60% of all new cars sold here in Australia are made in another country. I think it's about time the Australian buying public buy "australian made" products.
