Why is it that 99% of taxis are falcons? If holdens are so cheap to run and reliable as they claim to be- why arnt there more holden taxis? The ultimate test for a car would have to be being driven nearly all day , all week in high wear stop start conditions. Does this says something about holden build quality and long term durability - or am i just talking out of my arse?? I think it does say alot about the strength, durability and efficiency of fords I6 tho......

isnt that sompthing they should have fixed in the VT-VX change (or even before that)???? But i shouldnt complain , because that just means more ford sales i guess....

I heard that the crappy auto just can't take the stress of all day stop-and-start. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what my mechanic says.

I thought the crappadores auto was its biggest asset. Maby it gave you whiplash on every shift , but it was as tough as nails and could go for hundreds of thousands of Km's before needing a service let alone a rebuild.
but your mechanic is probably correct......

the ecotec v6 gets shithouse economy running on gas, it loves to drink it and works out much more expencive to run for much less power, the ford 6 is as economical as a 4cyl when running on gas, plus it gets between 600,000 - 1,000,000 k's without ever needing a spanner touch in in taxi conditions when well maintained. Just talk to a Taxi driver, they love them and certainly love to talk about them.

I prefer the crappadores automatic to that of the falcon, for spirited driving, but for everyday driving the smoothnes of the slushomatic in the falcon is a winner. I think i'd rather a manual next time anyway.
Taxi pack with 6 seats and column auto was available from VN-VS, but you dont see many as taxi's. The electronic Holden auto trans is far from bullet proof and trouble free. The local taxi drivers just say the Falcons stand up to the conditions better, one of them tried a VS, went back to a Falcon.
