I will start a new thread for this topic as the old one is a few pages long. Here are the details once again. The proposed dates are October 2-7, 2001. We are trying to plan visits to the Geelong and Broadmeadows sites although exactly what we will be doing at these sites is yet to be decided because there are no public tours at this time. There will also be a tour through the Ford Discovery Centre, a visit to Tickford and a proposed visit to Herrod. Interested people at this stage vary from 20-60 depending on the XR club/s involvement.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Lindsay Fox Classic Car Collection. This is not a place normally open to the public, but they offered you guys the chance to come and visit if enough people are interested. The only drawback I guess is that there are no Fords in the Collection. Nevertheless this is a great chance to see some amazing cars and to see the restoration processes used. So... what do you all think? :thumbup: or :thumbdown

If you are new to this forum and are interested in coming along please tell me and let me know approximately how many people will be coming along with you.

I take it no one is particularly interested in adding the Fox Car Collection to the agenda.

If Lindsay is prepared to open the Bar, then I cant see why not.
Seriously I think there is enough on the plate. I myself would rather spend that extra 15 minutes in each dept, so I get the gist of what's going on, and it stay's fixed in my noggin, rather than being rushed around like japanese tourists and ending up like chips in a fish shop basket.
there is a lot to see and a lot to do. 5 day's wont last long, and not everyone will want to go and see everything that someone else wants too.

So far there are gaps in the proposed itinerary. The Geelong component will take one full day. Ford and Tickford will also take approximately one whole day depending on what we do there. You guys will probably have to organize the Herrod part of the trip if you want to go there as, like I have said I have no contact with them.

That's two and a half days by my calculations.

As for Japanese Tourists, remember No Cameras except for the FDC :wink2: :wink2:

Being a car enthusiast, and knowing what's in the Fox collection, I'd give up sleep to go there if I have to. Maybe you can email me the itinerary too Felicity?
At this stage I would LOVE to see the Fox cars - as long as they promise to start up a few (isn't there a GT40 in the collection?).
For the other guys, Lindsay Fox has some of the baddest, rarest and well kept classics in the world let alone Australia. Some of the cars are worth a a major fortune and I assure you that you will never see some of them in your lifetime if you pass up the opportunity. In fact, if it's Herrod vs Fox I'm in for Fox.....
