Fords subsiduary Mazda, has won the International Engine of The Year Award for the Renesis Rotary Engine.
It also won the Award for best Engine Award 2.5 to 3.0litre class.
The Renesis beat BMW, Mercedes, etc.
In total, the Renesis won 3 Awards.
Now can we get this engine in a Focus ? Fiesta ? 182kws !!!
Nice one Ford. General can only offer the old Camira engine to Daewoo. Woo Wooo !!

LOL. Nah Ford can't really take any credit for it. Here I was too thinking the IL6 Turbo won engine of the year. I did hear about the RENESIS winning, but it never once crossed my mind that "hey it's a Ford".

I thought a rotary engine is 1.3 litres... how could it win the 2.5 - 3.0 litre class?

Although I think I heard Mazda were developing an engine consisting of basically 2 1.3 litre rotaries... potential 300kW+ 2.6l engine anyone?

26B quad rotor? Like the 787B Le means winning racer that dominated 1995 and was banned after that. In a street car? Hmmm, I'd like to see that.

Lowriding, I said " Fords subsiduary Mazda" which means, Mazda is a subsiduary of Ford. Ford owns 25% of Mazda. Ford was going to cancel the Rotary Engine project, but put $$$ into the development. As for capacity, it is on the "swept volume" ie what is produced as it goes around the epitrochoidal crankshaft. Wankel engineering is fascinating. Felix Wankel designed the engine and spent years developing it. But it was Mazda who perfected the design. I owned a Suzuki RE5, motorbike for some time, and it was amazingly smooth and quick off the mark.

you know I recon ford really should do more with mazda. They have some top notch engineers there and are way undervalued if you ask me.
Would love to see a 4wd rotary focus.....mmmmmmm drooooollllzzzz.
