Fuel Consumption

OK... after reading the TS50 write up thread, I got thinking about fuel consumption.

I had always though of my car as a gas guzzler. I dont drive like a little old lady either (I take my car to the drags at least once a month, and I like to do track days as often as I can)

I average 400 - 450 km per tank city driving, and the best I have had highway driving was 723km.

All this is on Mobil Synergy 8000, out of a very modified manual V8.

what do you get ?

According to the trip computers in my Fairlanes:

NB 3.9L MPEFI 6 is 13.9 L/100km
NC 5.0 L V8 is 16.9 L/100km

around town.

The NB does around 10L/100 on a country trip; havent tested the NC yet.

kell

you get 500kays out of the petrol tank, in an ED 5.0 eight and you don't drive like a granny?! yeah right! the most i've got on a singe fuel tank was 800-850 kays on the way to melb, but around city it's usually around 430-440. sometimes it has even gone down to 350-360 kays over a few days of full-on thrash-fest! and mind you, the AU has a 68-litre petrol tank. you can do the calculations! hehe

i do drive the car pretty hard around the city - day in day out

Now i don't flog the christ out of the old girl (el2xr8) well not all the time but around town i'm looking at between 350-400k's.

I don't get out on the h'way much so i am not sure what the k's are.

I think there might be a problem somewhere because this fuel consumption is poor. car has done 45000kms

what do u think.

My AUII XR6 VCT Ute gets 15 litres per 100 KM city driving, only done 1300KM's so I would expect better when the engine loosens up, the label said 12.5 litres per 100 KM but I think that is under lab conditions only, regards Ford jeepman
