geeky computer thread about nt task manager

you know how win2000 has this thing called NT Task List Manager or something along those lines, and it tells you how your computer performs, how much of the operating memory is taken up, cpu usage, etc.

what i want to know is whether you can get that on win 98 in some form? i just need a program that will show me how each of the individual programs affects my computer, and what's slowing it down.

there is a resource manager that can be installed off your Win98 CD, but it isn't particularly good, nothing near the NT/200/XP Task manager..

probably better to check for third party tools. i, unfortunately don't know any off the top of my head.. i'll see what i can find if no-one else turns up anything..

I think what you are looking for is the list of programs that comes up when you push ctrl+alt+del...

yeah, but that only works on NT/2000, not on 98

i've tried system and resource monitor, but i've got one word for those two: pathetic!

so, any third party programs?

I'm not sure it's in 98, i remember it was in ME. Under system tools there's system information program. it can give a list of all running processes and drivers etc and how much memory they're using up....

Yep Win98 has that System Information program but its not great.

Had windows XP for a while now, I like it, it's damn good for a M$ product.

true, dosnt crash much and when it does, it can recovers from it. :s5 i think M$ have lifted their game alot
