Headed down to the Speed Trials on Saturday Morning. Would've been a much nicer event had it not been for the damn wind. So hot and so windy, didn't hang around for too long, was just too hot, had to get into the water.
Was great to see the AC Cobra's going full stick, what a sound, and the superb GT-40's, and many other greats.
I notices there were a couple of BA GT's there too, unfortuantely i missed their runs.
Anybody else go and can give a run down of the times some of the machines were getting??
I was there Saturday as well, and it was bloody hot! The roar from the GT40s was magnificent, and there was a Ducati bike that sounded insane as well. I saw the BA GT do a couple of runs, one run was up against an XYish GT (or HO) and it was neck and neck all they way with the old model getting up by a couple of tenths if IIRC.

Yep i went down there sunday for a look around. Was the all the old cars unfortunately, but got to have a sit in a Mazda RX8 and have a look at a few display cars. Would have preffered to see the modern cars race on the saturday though..
The Speed Trials are held at Ritchie Boulevard on the Geelong waterfront and are basically a quarter mile drag, except there is a bend halfway down the track.
A porche turbo, not the latest model did a 12.06!!
A 240z did a 13.1!
A triumph tr7 v8 did a 13.6! with just 200hp at the wheels!! They are the cheapest lightest v8 car anyone could get I think!!
A racing superbike on sunday did a 9.45!!thats the fastest time for the geelong road!
A freinds group N racing mustang did a 13.2
Dutton racing gt3 porsche did 11.8 or so
(these are in my memory, lol, i love the speed trials!!)
Cobra's were doing high 12s or 13s
GT40s were about the same(there were 4!and how good are they!!)
There were heaps of porsches, gt's, oh! there was a lancia like in the 1st sega rally, bout a 85 model, did low 13's.
Lots of fast clubmans and that sort of thing on the Sunday, as well as boring mg's(apart from the odd exciting 6 or V8 one!)
There was Sarah Jane, shes some model, driving a new BMW Z4, i guess it was the best model cos even she did a 14.0!!
You should have all been there! its a great couple of days for geelong and next year I'm going to be there too!
All it costs is $100 and you have your cams licence(just the lowest one) and be a member of a club. And have a cool car! You submit your car and maybe you get a go or you dont.
