what a crock of shit, but at least the guy in the last few paragraphs has a brain.
What can we do about this people....
We need to let them know how we feel.
It is..my question is this.
Are youg males/females over represented in the accident level due to the following.
1) Lack of experience.
2) Lack of sufficent training
3) Generally older unsafe cars (comparatively)
4) Lack of heavy fines and loss of licence for minor infrigements?
Hmmm, something tells me its probably 1,2 and 3.
There are many young dickheads on their P's out there but same said for just about every other age group.
Oh one thing I forgot and I have been thinking about this for a long time.
"Stay Upright" in NSW the rider training program for motorcyclists has been a pretty good initiative and the fatality rates for motorcyclists have been falling for some time.
I fail to see why the same scheme isn't compulsory for drivers in order to get their licence.
Surely increased driver training is the answer - whay are there idiots so blind to the facts?
Could it be they are more interested in the revenue obtained...
im a p-plate driver and i reakon the fines should be increased. Im not saying that i dont speed, but i know heaps a spastics that reakon they can drive well just because they can do 180..any retard can drive quick in a straight line.
Once i get my own car i want to do a defensive and advanced driving course. Personally i reakon its to easy to get a drivers license., but i dont have any ideas as yet how to make it harder.
And another thing..if a P-plater wants to own a wrx or a supra etc etc, they should have to go through some kinda course before allowed on the road with that car..if they have the dosh for a car like that, then it shouldn't be any trouble.
BTW, ive seen plenty of just as dangerous drivers without P's on there car to.

My idea would be to have levels of licences...like trucks.
if you can pass, or if you attend certain training courses, you would be allowed to drive a higher powered car.
I dont have any disagreement with the fine increase, just the supidity of the people changing the fines for the wrong reasons.

Yeah, gotta agree with TheBow...
Being a motorcycle rider, that course did more for my driving attitude than most other things.
Also, I can understand why they limit L and P plate holders to 250cc 4 Strokes with Bikes, (I mean an Excel, Corolla, Camry, and Magna are quicker than these things IN A STRAIGHT LINE).
With the Car license, I can scrape by, get my P's, and drive ANYTHING. (WRX, AU3 XR8, VX SS). Lots of fun, till I stomp the pedal around a corner in the wet..
I remember them telling me when I started riding my 250.
Within the first 2 weeks of getting your P's, YOU WILL have an Accident.
The scary thing was, that for me, and my 10 other biker friends, this was 100% SPOT ON.
Performance Driver Education, and removing all Toyota camry's off our roads, will fix this problem !!!!
