Well I am in the process of getting insurance.... only I got it with AAMI last year and the wont insure me now cause of the mods I have done .... so I have rang up other places and they seem to want $760 for fire and theft when the cars only worth say 2-3 grand.... I could get insurance for a grand without the mods
I did a search on what young people do to get insurance and was wondering if I would be able to put it in my dads name somehow for full comprehensive??? hes with AAMI and is rating 1 for life..... bit hard to beleive a 45 year old man would have a car decked out with subs I guess.... but he does drive it about once a month.... also the cars registered under my name so I spose that cant help...... I really think paying 3-500 dollars more for an extra 10% power is ****ed especially for third party

Would people buy a commodore if it had a BTR-95le?
Would anyone be safe if the falcon had a THM700 E-Series Auto
Mate, i dont know about other companies but CGU let you go on a policy in your dads name and rating, even if the vehicle is in your name. You just have to be noted on the policy. Other option is to try Just Cars???
Think car will have to be in your dads name so he can insure it.
If u make the claim, they will probably ask him if hes the owner of the car, then hell have to tell em its your car. And seing as you will only be listed as a percentage driver, when infact its your car, they may grease up your bum hole for some loving.
But i kow people who do this and havent had a problem. They may chase it up if its a big claim.
I think im with SGIO atm. $600/yr. only place that would insure my car for 3rd party fire and theft.
They told me that i could do anything i want to the car as long as its legal, and doent increase engine size or poer. (extractors are allowed but)
But they wont cover no standard items if they are stolen :cd player etc)
My 1st car was 'owned' by my dad, and insured by my mum.
I crashed it, slightly suspect conditions, and they gave me a heap of shit.
Kept asking how much i drive it, when where why, who pays for this and that.
I eventually got the payout but.
So i think if u wanna insure it under your parents name, put the cr in their name just to be safe

Im 20 and my Commodore is insured (full-comp) with Shannons. They were the only people who would insure me when i started doing mods. I called up just now, so i can get my XR6T insured, because i pick it up today, with them and they gave me a quote slightly less than NRMA, so i took it. So now i have to insure 2 cars 'til i sell the Commodore. God i hope i sell it soon!!
The XR6T is $3,897/year full comp

For a Ford, see Dean (AKA RATT) at Peter Warren Smithfield for a great deal...
Ring an insurance broker, tell them what type of insurance you want, what modds you have and plan on doing.
They will get you the cheapest quote, they re-negotiate every year for cheapest, and they charge bugger all, cause insurance companies give them discounts for getting your policy.
