Good Mechanic in Melb West suburbs?

Well, I have just arrived from Qld to live in the Werribee area and just purchased my AU XR6 VCT and want to know if anyone knows of a good place to have services done? This is the one thing I always dread, handing over my cars to a stranger to "service" without knowing if they know the difference between a Ford and a Fiat.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Welcome to Melbourne, and ford forums Casper.
A few years ago I used to go to Westpoint Ford for general servicing on my NF Fairlane. They always left the car clean and completed what had to be done.

The workshop managers were Laurie and Nick.
Let them know that your car is your baby and they will take extra care.
I would always detail the car fully before it went in so if they any fingerprints on it they would stand out like the proverbial.

They would even park the car in two parking spots to protect the doors etc. Again this was many years ago at the old building.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies and welcomes.

Westpoint is just around the corner from me so it would be conveniant...just always been a bit concerned about some of the dealer charges, can get excessive.
Actually, I almost purchased a red AU XR6 HP from them before I spotted my black VCT for the same price...no contest :)

I have to say this is a very friendly forum....I don't feel like an outsider intruding which is nice. I'm surprised I haven't found it earlier as I've owned Fords all my life and am a bit of a fanatic on them. I ever went to Detroit last year and spent a day at the Henry Ford museum, highly recommended!
I've owned an XC GLi, XD GLi - HEAVILY MODIFIED, EB Fairmont V8, EF Futura wagon and now the AU XR6. I still have the EF Futura Wagon as the family car.

As for Melbourne, it's my home town (kind of - lived here for 7 years growning up), just had to see what Qld was like so I moved there for 8 years. Been there, done that, time to come home :)

Thanks again,

Cheers,

Thumbs up

Welcome mate.

Let us know if you want to do any cheap & easy mods to your
VCT. A few people have gone down the mod path with their AU's.

I'm curious as to what people would want to mod on an XR? I may be strange but I'm the opposite, I want to keep my as stock as possible. Maybe just open up the exhaust a little :)

As for my computers, I mod the hell out of them. Nothing runs at stock speeds and some of the components are extreme in the computer world. I suppose each to there own :)

By the way, does anyone else feel like a predator when they drive there XR's. Just waiting for some fool to try it on? It's only been 2 days but the thrill is there every time I turn the key :)
