it is in place as a test. Current search is pinging the loads on the server. Every search has to go through damn near 1 million posts to get your information. This test will allow us to judge what sort of real load difference there will be without it.
It also helps in supporting this site. Google searches of this site brings in support dollars to help in maintaining this place. I currently pay for everything out of pocket(server hardware, bandwidth, rackspace) with the help from the vendors that support this site and the donating members. Since there are very few DMS(0.015% of the members from last count) and advertising is kept to a minimum on here, no popups, no useless ads then the revenue that is generated through google ads and through google search are what helps me cover these expenses.
At the current rate we will have to add another server to the rack to help in load balancing and again that comes out of my pocket.
