cool Got dragged by a BA Fairmont

At the moment we are baby sitting a relative's new BMW M3. We were on our way home from Bendigo, and saw there was a new Fairmont Ghia in our rear vision mirror (we were overtaking at the time). We moved back into the left lane and the BA went roaring past us (the 3 young guys in it gave us the one fingered solute ). Anyway, we caught up to them and were driving side by side for a while, having a bit of fun. We egged them on a bit, as we dropped the M3 down from 6th to 3rd gear (the engine soared up to ~6000rpm), which they obviously heard as they put the foot down and disappeared into the traffic ahead. It was cool watching it dodge in and out of the traffic. It had incredible acceleration. The car was in a dark blue colour and looked fantastic. Its off the lights acceleration was incredible too. We used to have VT Commodore company cars, and they were so rough and wheezy it was quite annoying to push them, but this Fairmont seemed to thrive on it.

Just thought I'd let you guys know :)

Nah, they were clearly trying to have fun with us. They would have been in their late 20s. They were definately trying to get our attention. Maybe some Ford staff wanting to put their latest up against Munich's best :)

Thats the sad bit, I've got no idea. I couldn't see any V8 badging, but I don't really know what to look for on a Fairmont Ghia. Whatever it was, either it wasn't reving very hard, or it is a very quiet engine.

Agree - no chance against M3! Unless 260kw!

We weren't exactly trying. It was running in its most sedate mode in the SMG gearbox, and the drive-by-wire was set to its 'around town' setting. It was too crowded on the roads to do anything fun. :(

They've been making mostly V8 Fairmonts, and they do move - I can vouch for that!
