Driving along the M2 this morning in the dark and I saw in my rearview mirror bright green headlights coming up behind me. It was a small Honda hatch, I don't know how he got them to shine green but they stuck out.

Surely they are illegal, though having said that I know that most European cars will shine blue due to the Xenon gas that is used. I thought that he may have had some kind of film over his lights, being dark I couldn't get a look.

Also saw a black AUII ute this afternoon on Richmond Rd with green headlights that looked like they were lifted straight from the 00 car!

Down here in Melbourne, I've seen a silver AU II XR ute with the Lowndes headlight treatment; all 4 lights green. Looked great but I'm not sure how they'd work at night as they seemed obtuse. Saw that ute about three times in one week about a month or two ago but haven't seen it since. Anyone else seen it??? Looked mad.

I've seen XR utes with blue lights. But this was on some of the V8Brutes the were showing on speedweek on Foxsports.
They would be considered illegal by ADR rules I think.

yeah those blue lights are pretty cool. Hella make them, there called Cool Blue or something. Another brand calls them Artic Blue.

I got some the other day but i got H4's, i needed H1's...doh!!

H7's are the cool blue ones or do all that series of xenon gassed lamps show up blue?

If you do get H1 or H7's let me know how they go as I was thinking of fitting them into mine. Though I'd have to admit my XR has the best lights of any previous car that I've owned.

yeah i will..im going to look tomorrow morning, amyone know of a good place in geelong that will have them. I went ot that ford dealer and there bloody useless.

maybe this is what you guys are talking about...

at phillip island (V8s) there was a guy selling plastic lenses that fit into the xr headlights. he had about 7 different colours i think. just a coloured clear plastic that clips into the circular holes where the xr headlights are. highly illegal id think! anyone else see them?

of course there are also the coloured globes. i think they are just the parker globes that you change.

The Honda I saw I'd say had green lamps or some kind of film over the headlights.

The XR ute definately had green plastic coverings over the lights. I'd imagine that he would have to remove them to use his headlights. It was a shame he was heading in the other direction otherwise I would have tried to talk to him about it.

Actually, the lights you buy which are "tinted" are tinted paint, just a clear laquer of blue/green/white paint on the bulb, not actual 'xenon' lights like the european cars.

You can buy Thin Tint film from most places like carmate, auto1, american parts etc, which basically as someone saw the green lights, just turns them into green/rainbow effect.

The film can be applied to any headlight, isnt too cheap but is effective if you want that look.

If you are buying bulbs for your falcon (ef-el) make sure you dont get more then 65w or even 55w, otherwise the bulbs will blow overtime, and at $25 a pair of bulbs, its not the cheap option when they blow! Otherwise for AU's, the same deal, dont go over the normal wattage that your bulb already is :p

I replaced my headlight bulbs with Narva Artic Blue bulbs (EL XR lights suck) they really improve visibility of road markings especially in the wet. I wouldnt be without them now.
