New list price of a TE50 AU2 is $53950. So, what do you think a used one with the following specs is worth?

- a few thousand clicks (4 digits but I can't remember exactly)
- mid 2000 compliance
- an underside that tells you it's been a press car or something driven hard on dirt roads
- premium brakes
- 18 inch Azzurros
- premium sound

I have an idea:

$53950 base
$800 premium sound (approx)
$3000 premium brakes
$700 18 inch Azzurros (above Speedline 17s on the TE50)

Total is less than $60k plus on roads.
Minus a HUGE discount because there's still brand new cars from 2000 unsold in dealerships as we speak.

So tell me Gregory's are dreaming when they are asking $57900 or thereabouts. You can't even talk to dreamers like this......

Definite scope for bargaining there. If it's had a hard life so far (even if its only a few thousand klicks worth) I would not pay more than $50K on the road, may be even less than that, i.e.mid $40's. But I think you have a point, if there gonna try and sell it for that much, they might very well be unreasonable when bargaining. Or I'd just buy a new one for $53k+

I would buy that car for $44k. No more. In fact, I was ready to buy on the spot but I can't face these wankers when they are starting so high.

Just as an aside, I asked what he thought my car was worth as a trade (I gave a good reason why I was after the T-Series instead - taxation thing for my new job). June build/August delivery 2001 XR8 with every option and the Herrod stroker and heads, 4000km (see below). His suggestion was $37k. So I had to pay $20k to get into an inferior older car.

i just traded my AUXR8 (immaculate) on a used AU2 XR8 and i got over 30k trade in.......

Yeah but if you kept your AU1 XR8 you could have spent that $15k-$20k changeover on being stroked and blown

My experience in dealing with these guys is that they are hard to offend. I mean they react in a none to flattering manner if you offer them too little but if you walk away they will call you at a later time if they really want to sell the car and usually for a lot less than they were asking for.

My brother has a brother in law who sells cars and listening to him talk its just a game. They think we're all mugs.

I must say I'm getting tired of the games and usually go in and demand their best price as a matter of principle. I tell them I have no time for sitting around flogging a dead horse.
