Most of those items identify a Fairmont, not necessarily a GS, which was also available on a Falcon 500.

The GS had a GT dash, stripes, chrome rims/hubcaps on top of what the fairmont had.
If the Falcon 500 had - interior lights on the back pillars
-chrome moulds on doors and wheel arches
- disc brakes on the front
what was the difference between a fairmont and a falcon???

There are differences between a GS and a GT dash. Firstly, the facia colour was Black on a GS, Argent (Grey) on a GT. The Tacho was also different, reading to 6000 rpm with a red line drawn at around 4600. The GT Tacho read to 6000 with a Red Segment from 5500-6000 rpm (Windsor), read to 8000 with a Red Segment from 6000-8000 rpm (Cleveland).

i understand that but my question is

The GS Pack was an option (like a tow bar or a/c etc) and not a specific model (like 500, F/mont etc) therefore there is no model number that separates one from a 500 or F/mont.
Externaly the GS Pack included not much more than the GS stripes and Chrome wheel trims like the ones fitted to XR and XT GT's.
On the inside there was a GT dash but if I remember correctly the speedo only went to 120mph and the Tacho 6000rpm like the non HO GT's,
The Steering Wheel was the same as the GT's except for the badge in the centre of the wheel. (I think it had the same symbol as the then called "Hood ornament" that was an option across the range) Other than that I don't remember much (old age!!!) but I seem to recall that an Eight track Stereo was part of the deal.
I do recal someone saying something about wires and the color of them behind the dash for the extra guages,is the only real way off telling a fake GS to a real one,Ford never kept records of these vechiles and it is so easy to do up a 500 to look like a GS with just add ons,try contacting the GT clubs,I'm sure there would be a few knowledgable folkes there.
