hi guys

i was reading through an old motor mag from 1980 when i came across the gtho phase 5 on the front cover, personally i didnot know we had a phase 5 and apparently their were about a thousand or so made.

Cost was 18000 - 20000 for a 1980's XD with a huge 225 kw 351 v8

BUT the phase 5 was not produced by ford but by Phase autos of Laverton,Melbourne which modified the fairmont style body units.

ok i have finished my little thread of useless info but it was nice to go back a few years to the good old days.

My mate owns one, a silver 3-spd auto. Handles very nicely. He took it out to Willowbank the other week and it reeled of consistent 15.6s, with a best of 15.54. Not bad for what I think is an essentially stock emmisioned 351

Phase Autos also made the EB Allan Moffat HO. So they really tried to give it their best over alot of motor car periods...

Stock 351 in a XD was rated at 147kw.

I actually met the guy who did that body work, and that of the the Moffat HO. He was a guest speaker at a club night recently.
Very interesting, especially the fact that he built the EB HO first, then approached Moffat and asked if he could put his name on it.
He also designed the body kits etc for Dick Johnsons XD XE's, and had his hand in a lot of other benchmark aero dynamic work.
A quiet and humble guy, who pretty much produced everything considered even half decent in the dark decade at Ford.
