GTHO Specs...??

Hey people,

I was just flicking through an old Motor mag and came across an article on the Up and coming FORD GT "GT40" and it hit me...

GT40 - Motor 5.4 litre DOHC Supercharged V8
I Know this is the same block with different heads and stuff to the one we have here in OZ for the GT but the power should still give us some indication to what power the Aussie GTHO should produce.....

GT40 Engine
Power = 373kw @ 5250rpm
Torque = 667Nm @ 3250rpm

Yup nice figures... though its the aluminum block and possibly very similar heads to our GT. Whack on the Supercharger and spend a few $000 more and away you go. Very similar.

Its likely to be here - but not for years. Don't expect a GT-HO until the "new model".

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Re: GTHO Specs...??

Hmm another GTHO thread. Anyway that power is good, but we need good gearing/gearbox, a decent price and a name change. sorry peoples but IMO the GTHO name should be left alone.

Re: GTHO Specs...??

I've spoken to a mates gitrlfriends mums sister whos cousins sons best friend works at FPV and he said that the GTHO will have a V10 producing near on 400kw in N/A form.

Its all speculation. Though it would be nice to have that 'GT' engine in our HO, I dont see it being a reality even if the HO goes ahead.

Re: GTHO Specs...??

Then simple fact is that the GTHO would have to obliterate everything.. it has too much reputation.

As the last one was so damn fast, it has to be that much faster (and please ford, spare us the 70 odd year old man this time) otherwise it would be a softer version.

The phase 4 would have been a little bit quicker than the phase 3...so the phase 5(?) after all these years would have to be everything and a bit more..

It would need to be almost as fast as the ford GT just to pull it off... I don't think Ford Australia is going to do that in a hurry..

So names aside...it would never be a real GTHO..

Re: GTHO Specs...??

Once and for all, the engine in the Ford US GT will NEVER EVER EVER make it into a Falcon. END OF STORY. Look at it like a beancounter and see the teethpulling and bloodshed it took to get a locally developed modular V8 - then extrapolate this to the relatively exotic bits in the Yank GT engine, and then have a good long laugh at your own expense.
