A little while ago there was a thread floating around regarding a sighting of a possible GTP wagon. Well, at the recent Rally of Melbourne i was attending, i got chatting to one of the guys that was in our little group of supporters. We got chatting about Fords and he told me about how he and his brother had built up a GTP Wagon!
They started off with base XT wagon, and from there, completely re-did the interior to GT spec, including purchasing all the leather seats, dash, door trims - the lot.
They also changed the front headlight, bumper and spoiler assemblies to match a GT front end, bought a set of GT wheels, and the sticker kits, and from memory even did the brake upgrade. It was also lowered to look the part.
Mechanically, all they did was add a chip, which apparently boosted power to about 202kW.
Driving it around they continually get offers to buy it, and also get guys coming up to them wanting to know if its the real deal.
It put 'em about 18 grand out of pocket, but what they're saying is that its a one of a kind!!!

Yeah i've seen it, sure was a sweet looking wagon
But I gotta say, 18 grand? What a waste of money.

Thats what i said too but he was certainly happy with himself, and not really worried about the money loss.

So that's, what, $34k for the XT, plus $18k = $52k. A bit cheaper than a GT and a lot more unique, but I would have at least started with the 220kw V8! Come time to sell, of course, and it will still only be an XT wagon with body kit.

but its a six - like you said, an XT wagon with a body kit.
But if money isn't an issue - which is the case for some lucky people, then why not!

I spotted an XR6 wagon in Narooma on Sunday and that looked pretty sweet as well.

I assume he must know someone at ford to get those badges.
I'm pretty sure the xr6-t badges require a vin number to purchase, and I would have thought they do the same or more to protect gt badging . . .
