eek GTR & 200SX to be scrapped

Due to Japan changing its emmisions laws the 200SX and GTR will cease production from August this year (cannot meet emmision regs). They will reappear in 2004.

Not good news for Nissan Oz, the 200SX is a good seller for them. I think they are going to try their luck at getting a large amount of them to satisfy demand until a new model arrives.

This info is from my brother so it would want to be right or I'll have to ring his neck.:s5

The S15 silvia or 200sx as its called here has already stopped production
there is also whispers that a new S16 silvia will be produced using a SR20VET instead of the SR20DET but i cant confirm anything more
and sideshowfreak is correct about the GTR except its going to be a 3.5lt twin turbo V6 and its expected in australia in 2005

According to the July Wheels magazine, the GTR will be powered by a 300KW V8. Industry sources are quoting displacement of 5.0 litres though some sources have quoted 5.4 litres.

Re: GTR & 200SX to be scrapped

Heres hoping Daewoo buys the pressing for the R34 and the 200 sx.. like they did for the old maxima..

The V8's can be stroked/bored to 6.1Litres..

And they can be made to make plenty of power.. the 4.0L makes 206kw... A fully worked N/A 6.0L alloy V8 could pack a powerful punch..

Doubt We will get the v8 -

Doesn't anyone read Wheels properly ? 300KW V8 is to be NA for North America - We will still get (if we get the car at all) the twin turbo v6 3.5L effort as our emission laws, along with Japan and Europe, are not as strict as those in California. Thats the only reason they are introducing the V8 to the GTR. As for which V6 3.5 it will be - It will apparently be the 3.5V6 out of the 350Z. Might find the v8's eventual appearence in AUS - Nissan have been known for years to do limited runs of different engines/chassis/trims just for fun - anyone remember the 4 door GTR R33?

And this is an old thread from last year - both the GTR (ie the RB engine) and the Silvia (ie the SR engine) have been scrapped as of august last year.

the SR motor has not been scraped all together go and look at a Xtrail they use a SR20VE and there is even a turbo version of the motor

Re: GTR & 200SX to be scrapped

I don't think history will remember them. Sure there fast cars and all but they have no distinguising design or innovation features whatsoever.
