Have you ever been caught speeding, and what speed were you doing and in what zone?
I've never been caught speeding, and personally have no qualms about speed cameras etc. Thats not to say I never speed, I probably am speeding 20% of the time. I think why people get caught so much and whinge so much is cos they are speeding all the time or a majority of the time and in stupid places like well used main roads!!
My personal opinion is if you are dumb enough to speed 90% of the time or in places where coppers are sure to hang out you deserve a ticket!
140 in a 110 zone on the Hume Highway, automatic 1 month loss of licence. I believe that if you speed and you get caught you should cop it like a man. On another note however, i dont believe that 5kms over the limit, while technically it is speeding, should be penalised.
Don't remember all the exact speeds but the last one was over 12 months ago and was 84 in a 60 zone. Had just overtaken a car and well, stuff happens...I got caught. the fine was $170+
got caught once about 15 years ago ... speed shall remain unspecified but I got out of it ... ( someone was smiling on me that day !! ) but really, no fines etc at all.
I've lost count too, but most of mine have been only just over the limit. ie 74 in 70 a zone. The worst one was on the Westgate at around midnight, I was asked if I knew if I was doing 7kms over the speed limit.. "err no I didn't officer". While the other officer was checking my car over he came back with a ticket saying that I was doing 27km over the speed limit!!
But he also marked that I was a marine vehicle, wrong colour car, mispelled my name. It was his last night on duty and I was his last victim. I wonder if they'll ever catch up with me about that one?
104 in 80 zone.... Princes hwy just past sandown.... 4:30AM on a thursday morning no other cars....lucky though 1 kay more and it would have been loss of licence
Done heaps of times. 20+ years on the road though!!
This is a summary in the speed camera era.
January 2003 - 64 in a 60. Bulk pissed off, a good section of road downhill. A real revenue placement.
January 2003 - 106 in a 100. Country road, area known for accidents so not too pissed about this one.
December 1997 - 121 in a 100. Deserved this one!!!
June 1997 - 77 in a 70. Bulk pissed off at the time!!!
September 1996 - 68 in a 60. As above.
August 1996 - 67 in a 60. As above.
3 more before that in the early '90's, all less than 15km above speed limit.
Have also had plenty of near misses and letoffs, one I should have lost my license so in all, I've had a good run.
