Headlights On feature - WTF?

Does a base BA Falcon turn it's headlights off automatically when you turn it off and get out, and vice versa when you get in and turn it on?

Should I tick the 'Headlights On Feature' option or not? My local dealer says the instant in-start-on and stop-out-off feature is standard on all Falcons. I'm just not sure whether to believe him.

If the in-on out-off feature is std, WTF is the 'Headlights On Feature' ?

dealer as, as per normal, full of crap. Fairmont up have this feature not base model. I don't see why you need it personally, bit like the old delay set up on the Au's. It is used in the states so we have it to is my understanding. They say its a security feature that enables you to park your car facing the front door of your house and walk to th door in the lights and then they go out when your inside. Who needs that? not me. Sometimes i think we waste money and time on crap like that which would be better spent else where

Headlights on feature means that your headlights are ALWAYS running, daytime or night time. Some companies/fleets require this feature for safety reasons.

I have grown used to this feature on the VT repmobile, and I want it on the replacement, that's all.

If I were to switch over now without this feature, I can see a few flat-battery nrma callouts happening....

THE LIGHTS WILL CUT OUT AFTER A HOUR IF YOU LEAVE THEM ON SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE FLAT BATTERIES

This feature sounds like a big waste of time to me.
Is it that hard to turn your lights on & off??????

Dont get it. (especially if it costs more)

I use it with my Au fairmont.
There are no street lights where I live so the delayed cutout is pretty handy when negiotating a path through the spider webs at night.

My mates dad has a BA fairmont and the headlights on feature actually seem to be the connected to the solar sensor and it turns the head lights on automatically when it gets dark and turn them off when it gets bright.

It wired when you drive in a tunnel and halfway through they come on, and about 100m up the road when you leave they turn off.

taken from ford.com.au

Headlights automatically turn on when the vehicle is started and turn off when the vehicle is shut down
Integrated with the electronic system
Improves visibility of the vehicle to other traffic
The normal vehicle headlights and taillights override this feature when switched on

I gather people here havent driven home where there is no street lights, no way to find the front door in pitch black surronds?

Its a gadget... not harmful IMO... so really no need to bag it!
