Is there anyone in the ipswich or brisbane that could help me do the cfi to mpfi conversion it just becuase i don't understand anything about the conversion

i just rang up the parkridge wreckers they told me that i couldn't do because my car doesn't have smartlock. do or don't need smart lock? I'm going to do buy an engine from the wreckers. the parkridge wreckers offered me 465 for a ea mpfi engine

You do NOT need smartlock, just make sure you get a non-smartlock ECU for the MPI. Many EA's had this, although I *think* the 30th anniversary models used smartlock.

Anyway, if this wrecker thinks you have to have smartlock for MPFI, I'd seriously question paying him to install things, because he obviously knows very little about these cars...

EB II were the first cars to use smartlock. EA and EB I were non smartlock

go to salisbury wrecking them cause parkridge are just ripping you off there,i can go in and it shows 4.0ltrs on a board for 400,i'll double check and yeah their full of it when it comes to smartlock..you can..

10/92 was the magicdate for smartlock
2/92 was start of EB2

Sooooooo theres an 8 month window of NON sartlock 4.0 putah's

My car is EB2 and definitly doesnt have smartlock. All Id need though is a Smartlock putah, smartlock ignition barrel and the smartlock module!
