Ok, as I mentioned in , after having someone get into my back yard and stick a hose down into my petrol tank and syphon fuel out (amongst other things), I went and got a lockable fuel cap.
Now, the problem is, when I put it in, it locked, and now won't unlock.
Dellboy999, Gunns and I all had a go at trying to get it off on Sunday, and none of us could.
So, does anybody have any ideas how I can get it off? Preferably without destroying the lockable fuel cap, but if it has to be destroyed to get it off, so be it, the poor car would probably only just have enough fuel left in it now to make it to the local petrol station...

hmmmm i had a problem like that cause when i went to unlock it the cap would keep turning around and i thought it was still locked so i tried turning it the other way, well you could tell how fustrated i was lol
hey bro, you drive an eski bro, you should be like me and know how to deal with dodgy locks lol, try jiggling it a bit
have you tried turning the key and levering the cap GENTLEY off??
Nope, key doesn't turn at all. And yes, tried turning the key and levering the cap gently off, it won't budge, the entire cap turns slightly, but that's it.

Hehehe, in fact, none of the locks on either of my eskis have been dodgy, closest thing is the boot lock on my 4 door which is rusty all around the lock itself and so moves around a little...
I tried jiggling it a bit, then I tried the same thing on the lock, lol, neither did any good...

I might sound silly here, but did you try the key before you fitted the cap on to the filler neck? Maybe the key didn't work in the first place
I had a little problem with the lockable cap on Escorts too. I used to push the cap in towrds the filler neck hard and turn the key. This worked as I think it freed up the locking tabs and made it easier to unlock. Worth a shot.
Interesting - I want a lockable filler cap for my RS2000 since reading about your event, certainly will be trying the key first and still be worried installing it. What brand was the cap, just in case?

Yup, tried it before fitting the cap, and it seemed to work...
Thanks for the suggestion, I just went and tried it... Didn't work.

I can't seem to find the container it came in, but the keys have 'CPC' printed on them on one side, so I'd guess that is the brand name - I brought it from and it was the only brand of lockable fuel cap they had...
At this stage, I don't care anymore if the lockable fuel cap gets destroyed getting it off, I just want to be able to put fuel in my car before it runs out of fuel! So anyone got any ideas - locksmith, drill out the lock, etc...

Have you tried spraying wd40 or something like that down the keyhole?
Or pushing down on the cap whilst trying to turn the key?
I tried pushing down on the cap while trying to turn the key, the wd40 idea sounds like it's worth a shot, thanks, I'll try that and post again to tell you all if it worked or not...
