ok heres the drum . printer stoped working i located the problem to the lpt port drivers. i couldent make the ****ers work took it to computer shop thay some how updated the driver. got it home and it worked no worrys. installed a diffrant printer and now im back where i ****in started and getting extreamly frustrated one keybored has now bit the dust. in my divice mangler i only have a com1 port no lpt printer port is listed i have removed and installed com1 a few times now and still nothing. detect new hardware says i dont have a printer conected? yet it is conected . im fixing this for me mum and dont realy wanna go and get the ****er fixed again and look like a dick and fork out another$93.50

Just add the printer port manually, instead of letting the Operating System try find it.

What Operating System you got anyway, Win95, Win98 or ????

Whoa. That's quite a vocabulary you have there.

Now, if you installed a different printer, you should have gotten some drivers with it which you'll need to install to make it work. If you don't have these, go to the manufacturer's web site & download the drivers from there.

Let us know how it goes.

install the drivers which came with your new printer fires but if that still dosent work
use the add new hardware wizzard to search for it and if it dosent find it add it mannualy with the wizzard if that doesent work check in the bios to see if its enabled and what the settings are.

tis sorted cheers for the replys it seems that when i installed the printer i wanted to use it would disable the lpt port in the bios bugged if i know how but every time i install the drivers for it and reboot and look in the divice mangler the port is gone. reboot and go in to setup and sure enough the port would be disabled got me ****ed anyways the printer is now laying in the driveway
