I was lookin about on Ebay & this caught my eye.
Tis an iron on type transfer I think http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....480836044&rd=1
Perhaps some of the older guys may be able to shed some light & provide a bit of a history lesson. The Early 70's saw some real GLORY days for ford, coulda been some "rivalry" or it may have been part of the "70's supercar scare era"
I got no idea - wouldn't mind knowing though........
At a guess i think it may of been a propoganda sticker because Ford was so sucessful in blowing the competition to the weeds that some people from the other brands got the sh!ts. Bit like when the GTR Skylines were winning all the time.
Good find Wulos, I was only talking to my wife about these the other day. Small world.
I can remember there were a whole string of these, help stamp out Monaros, Toranas, Minis and Chargers so it wasn't just a Ford thing. They caused quite a stir at the time and the police were pulling people over and requiring them to be removed. Being a transfer they had to be scrapped off. The reason....it was considered that they might incite inappropraite behaviour between road users, I guess today we would call it road rage.
When all this was happening I remember the cops had Chargers and Minis as pursuit cars.
Dont mess with mini's, they may not be super fast in a straight line but the will out brake a Falcon and carry a tonne more corner speed! On tight tracks like Winton used to be they were unbeatable!

Mind you the off camber sweeper at Amaroo was not a strong point for the mini, ask anyone who raced one there.
Still Mini did hold their own with the big bangers due to tyres and brakes though.
I wouldn't mock an old mini (OK, I would, I call my mate's one "The V8") but I wouldn't exactly call them a supercar either.
