The tough new laws being considered target things like excessive noise, illegal street racing, refusing to leave a pubic place, "exhibitions of acceleration" and burnouts.
Now as many of us know, there is already legislation covering these "threats to society".
What the new laws propse, is for the State to confiscate the cars of anyone labeled as a "hoon", as well as toughening other penalties.
The man pusing it, Victoria Police Minister Andre Haermeyer says he weighed up the new law as a detereant to erratic driving against civil liberties and obviously thought he is doing us all a big favour.
These laws are a few months awawy from implementation.
LOL hooning was here when cars were made and will remain here forever,noone not even the police nor goverment are gunna stop it...so the goverment should be trying to help resolve the issues not create more issues...

Sounds like the same old garbage from the same old tax collectors. Let me guess, they have the right to sell the car too?
dont say that too loud...you will end up giving someone ideas. seriously, i sincerely hope that isnt the case. i am sure that some smart lawyer would be able to prosecute the government for theft in that event, but you would hope it nver gets that far. a truly scary thought.

i got a better idea *light bulb appears above head* why not make it illegal for ford, holden, toyota, nissan etc to produce cars altogether! bicycles all round! although then ppl will be lining up at the lights and ringing their bells before screeching off in a flurry of rotating legs, 1cm wide tire tracks, and all round excessivley dangerous behaviour, so they can get banned too. hey, why not ban legs too? they assist in moving us humans at highly unsafe speeds, i mean imagine if you sprinted through a carpark, thats bordering on 35kph. imagine if someone like maurice greene was in a hurry to get his shopping, hed be doing 20kph over the limit!
this type of wreckless behaviour obviously cannot be allowed to continue and i can only pray that victoria leads us into a safer tomorrow
