Hey everyone - im a holden lover/owner and i thought i'd come and check out the competition. I used to think most ford....well faclon owners were rednecks and hoons, just like you guys probably think "commonwhore" owners are much the same - but im quite supprised - this is quite the opposite. The conversation is very intelligent which is pretty much what i expected. Im not trying to start a holden/ford shitfight becuase i have respect for your cars, just like you may respect mine.
Im looking at some of your cars and im very impressed. if i had the money right now i know i'd buy an xr6T im really impressed with them. The cars ive seen so far look smick and im sure go allright . again not starting a shitfight i have respect for your interests and im sure its mutual.
i want to know what you guys think of commie owners. im sure some of you have seen the ls1 forums....if your gonna be negative i dont wanna hear it.....

Your not alone
You may have seen my post earlier in the week on ls1. I've just bought an XR6T after much deliberation over which way to go, VY SV8 or XR6T fortunatly i was in the right position at this time to make the choice in the end i went for the looks and the TURBO.
I'm still a Holden fan and always will be, i've never been into the versus shite anyway they both have there good and bad point's.
One of the reason's that swayed my decision was seeing the involvement of Mr. Polites on this forum the fact that he's willing to come and see what you guy's are upto listen to what you have to say and get involved with the public.
thanks for the welcome, and i do agree, the versus stuff is crap ive just seen a few ff members "flame" ls1er's. now all i have to do is learn all these terminologies and ill be sweet
welcome to the forums. there is quite a variety of people on here, so no doubt you will get some sh*t for being a holden fan, but never mind...i like escorts, so i am pretty much alone on here. still, i dont get any of the 'only milk and orange juice comes in 2 litres' crap. maybe cos most have been hosed by a well sorted escort in their past
have fun...it isnt a bad place at all.

Just as I'm a Ford man (owned 14 over the years as well as a XW GT and an XY GT) who recently purchased an SS.
My EL Ghia was literally falling apart and I either had the option of waiting for an XR6T and doing a few thou on repairs for a car I would own for another 3-4 months or going where my heart wanted and that was to get the ass back into a V8.
I tried real hard to park that ass in an XR8 but finding one in good nick and manual through a dealership was near on impossible. Best one I could find was a Venom Red for $47k!!! with no options when you could walk down the road and get an onroad new XR8 for $45k (in colours that would take years to grow on me) and the dealer with no interest to make a deal right on the even of the BA launch... yes, the car is still in the yard.
Went to the dark side with a tricked up LS1 which will tide me over till the Series II XR8's come out, then I'll make the evaluation. Problem is, my SS is a fantastic car to drive for less than the average price as a Series II AU XR8 and the dealer offered a much better trade than any Ford dealer wanted to give me.
I wouldn't call myself Brand loyal now, just Brand biased. I work hard for my money and I like to think that I'll allow myself the option to reap the most value for my dollar. Will be great to see Ford clawing back the lead that Holden got on us, but I'll have to watch it from the front seat of my Commodore!

A good friend of mine owned a 2ltr Ghia many years ago and it really was goer. Many a V8 was left wondering what had just happened.
I think the RS2000 was an awesome machine in it's time also.
dvxx, I seriously doubt that I'm the only Ford fan that's owned and loved at least one Holden in their lives. I've always been a Ford fan but I've had a Holden, a Valiant, a Mazda, a Datsun and even a Volvo (two actually). I think most of us recognise that no matter what our colours, we're all car enthusiasts and it would be a bland world if everything was painted in just one colour.
