Hi my dads got a Ef falcon police chaser with that chaser dash on it. Just wondering if any1 knew what was changed in this model falcon to the standard and was there any power increses or and differnat mods than standard. I know that speedo can be recalibrated easily but i was wondering what other mods were done to these EF's. Cant wait till he buys a new car coz i want his.
On the commies there were a few changes. Remote boot release was removed, you could shift from D to 2 with out pressing the button, and there was upgraded wiring for the fuses etc. I've got now idea as to any mechanical mods, though they are probably few as when the cops want a car to go fast, they'll buy an XR6/8/ SS. On the other hand don't be suprised if your car has features like a limited slip diff or transmisson cooler. This is not based on facts, it just seems like the kind of thing you'd fit.
You have a xr style dash, meaning oil pressure and battery level as well. Other then that, the dash allows you to adjust speed ratios (handy if u change wheels like i did to 17's), and also transmission cooler, the suspension, engine wise, who knows! i have an EL engine, so no idea, but i doubt they changed anything.
The only real noticable thing is the extra incriments (they go in 2 instead of 5 like every other ef/el/au) and the transmission cooler (also known as taxi pack or towing pack), and other then that nothing basically.
Oh, its a debadged futura pretty much, you dont get the cruise control, but u have the extra futura options minus the c-control.
Thats about it :p

Above standard GLi equipment it had the tranny cooler, ABS, twin air bag, XR dash, LSD, extra handles & lights inside and alot more holes in the body work. From the experience with this car, I wouldn't buy an ex. cop car. It took about two years to sort it out.
In that time it had the diff replaced and the tranny rebuilt along with alot of smaller things, fourtunatly under new car warranty. Admitidly the dealer who did alot of the initial work ended up being a bit dodgy.
Performance wise the diff ratio made it get up and a little quicker than a standard car and used more fuel, other than that zip.

I think reading in the workshop manual the police pack EF falcons have the 180km/h limiter removed.
