Hi Everyone

hi i just registered, ive been lurking around for a bit and thought i might register on seems my dad just got a new xr6 turbo as a company car. So hi everyone. ive just got a few questions for you all.

there seems to be a problem with selecting 5th gear in the gearbox at the moment, i havent actually been able to find 5th gear at all, i move it to where 5th gear should be and all i get is neutral and a slight rattling noise from the gearbox, we think the person who drove it to where we picked it up might have screwed 5th gear up. i know the gearboxes are right at the edge of how much power and touque they can except, but if anyone has any ideas on what the problem might be then go ahead.

thanks

PS the thing just goes like a rocket, our previous car was a au 2 fairmont ghia so this is quite a change.

Welcome xr6Turbooooo,I'm sure you will enjoy your stay here, the forum is not addictive.....nurse,nurse where's my valium...nurse?. By the way this place has been called the Nuthouse and if I'm not mistaken someone should be along soon to get your jacket size. As for the 5th gear prob straight back to the dealer for a warranty fix. :s6:

thanks for the welcome fellas and ill book the car in this week, besides no 5th gear, which is annoying but not too bad, the car is appsolutely fantastic, never driven a car which goes so hard. and at least this is better than what happened then when i had the holden calais, with that the left rear brake caliper bolts came loose and fell out so im quite happy as this isnt a safety issue like that was.

Its a Blueprint Manual XR6 Turbo with no options as it is a company car. Looks fantastic , just took it out for a 2 hour drive, cant get the smile off my face. anyways im rambling. Again thanks for the welcome and ill see you all around.

oh and i must say the amount of wheelspin you can get in it is insane, havent driven it on a dry road yet but in the wet 2nd gear wheelspin down the road has happened twice at about 3000 rpm, thank god for traction control.

i thought people might be interested in an update on my situation.

took it to the dealer today and they rang ford up and the gearbox is getting replaced and is gonna be sent off in one piece to melbourne and a replacement sent back up. got a fairlane ghia v8 courtesy car and the car should be back next week mid week.

kudos to ford for being very quick at fixing this. and god that fairlane ghia is soooo slow.
