Question History Lesson

I thought a few others here may be interested.....
What "race car" had the following specifications?
539cid (7.0 bore x 7.0 stroke)
water cooled transverse midmounted, horizontally opposed flat 2 cylinder (it was lubricated by means of a "total loss" oil system - motor was actually designed to leak oil)
induction was provided by a sliding plate "vaporizer"
The car also ran a 2speed gear box
And now the big spec.
26 hp at 900 rpm
Anyone care to take a guess???

Believe me when I tell you all that you know the driver (or at least I hope that you do)
the car ran on 4" tyres on 28" rims as well (to control all that power)
Another of the ground breaking innovations of the car was that the motor used a ceramically insulated spark plug.
still no other guesses??????

the car actually won on debut as well.
didn't have a tail shaft either - it was chain driven.
I will post the answer on Friday night(tomorrow)
to give the daytime crowd a little think time....:s5 :s5

this is an old car...
if it's chain driven, then it's gotta be one of the old cars
