i remember 12 months ago holdens peter hanenberger said holden whould not lose any sales to the new ba falcon

here it is 12 months on the falcon has out sold the bomadore for the first time 6 years and ford have also sold 50% more falcons then larst year
meaning holden have lost sales to the ba

While 12 months ago we had people on this forum saying things along the lines of "will holden ever sell another commodore?" and suggesting it was going to be a BA Cakewalk, which has been far from the case as well....

Both cars have been selling extremely well (7500 a month is awesome). Holden haven't lost much to Ford, its what Ford has gained.

Lets hope we keep going up and holden goes down a little. Ford utes are selling well too remember, well above holden.

NL is right. Holden really haven't lost any sales, it's just the large car marken has exploded with renewed fleet and private interest in Falcon.

Admittedly, Commodore sales have been maintained by some seriously large discounts on the VY at retail level, but GM-H can afford to do that after huge success over the past 5 years.

If you look at the unit growth of the large car segment, it can almost entirely be attributed to the huge increse in BA sales over last years AU figures.

its true that thay are both selling very well but thats just it new car sales are just so good at the moment so u cart see just how many sales holden have lost to ford but there where also a lot of post AU ford fans that chose the VT/VX becouse thay didnt like the AU of witch are now comeing back to ford so when the new car fad dies down it will show just how much sales holden are loseing

At the end of September 2003 Ford have sold 55489 Falcons and 15188 utes.
At the end of September 2002 Ford have sold 37129 Falcons and 13640 utes.

At the end of September 2003 Holden have sold 64906 Commodores and 11611 utes.
At the end of September 2002 Holden have sold 63546 commodores and 10130 utes.

ok but new car sales are alot stonger this year
so if the ba falcon was not so populer then holden whould have sold 10.000 to 15.000 more bomadoors this year so the BA has cost holden sales as u can see the rise in falcon sales so if the falcon had not had a sales rise then more bomadoors whould have been sold this year
