Holden will be among the first to buy a full Falcon range of cars (at an estimated cost of $250,000) so it can examine the cars more closely.
The company's executive director of sales and marketing, Ross McKenzie, said Holden was "acutely aware" that it now had a power deficit across its engine range.
"We understand the Falcon is a good car and, of course, we have to take it seriously," he said. "You can't let anyone get a foot in the door and get an edge on you. If [Ford] has a significant advantage then we must do something about it."
Ill leave the comments up to you- this is a joke! :-D

i guess they gotta get inspiration for vy2 from somewhere...
And while on the series 2 VY, just because it will get the quad cam v6, does that mean they will be better will it? More to a car than power figures and straight line speeds, which is what has been addressed in the BA.

VYII will see the introduction of a brand new engine, which I presume will be a world class product. The platform will still be the same, but I'd say by VE Commodore will be based on a new platform, and hopefully a new suspension setup too.

The Auto company's have an agreement where they can buy the new releases just prior to public release and at greatly reduced prices. They're going to do it any way so makes sense to have agreements in place..
Ford had a Camry fully disassembled and placed onto slide out boards during development of the '96 Taurus. That way you can easily look at any part of the competitor's car.
I can see it now at Holden: "Why's the camshaft up the top here? Whoa, there's two of them. Double whoa, there's two over here as well! That makes four, how the hell does this work?"

As stated by Holden officials at several media releases and I quote "The commodore will have the same engines until the new ones are introduced in 2007", Thats along time between VY1 and VY2

The VY 2 Commode due September next year will not have the new V6. It will not be released until the VZ. They are stuck with what they have for a while yet. The VE will be the new platform so Holden is stuck to "evolving" the current car until then.
