Holden and Nissan TV Ads

Just watching the Tv tonight and I noticed a couple of ads that caught my eye.
Firstly the Nissan Z car ad. I thought so called "Dangerous driving" was banned in TV ads. Funny as the Z car ad shows a 240Z doing circle work...

has anyone noticed the Holden Rodeo ad with the Monster trucks. Take a closer look at the cars being crushed. All painted yellow, but the monster truck lands on what looks like an EA Falcon shell. i love the small things that they do to get up the nose of the opposition. It made me laugh anyway.

Its not banned, its a gentlemans agreement between the marketing departments and the ABA. Nissan, Honda etc get away with it as their ads are produced overseas for a global audience.

I like the Nissan ad, and particularly the Z ad "Words are speechless" is a great ad.

Nissan a importer = no reason to abide by the gentlemans agreement..

I think nissan has done really well with the Z, unforunately looks at the cost of the Skyline range.. GTR does not equal turbo Z.. No manual skylines = non skyline.. Still I think things are improving otherwise..

In the US nissan is one of the most talked about brands.. I can see them doing well here soon..

That would explain why the Honda CRV ad with the little dog tied to the rear vision mirror promoting the speed of the car is allowed to continue.

But isn't the Corolla fully imported now? I thought the Corolla add was knock on the head too?

Toyota manufacturers cars locally.. Only Mitsubishi, Toyota, Ford and Holden will abide by the code (for all of their cars), as they are local manufacturers and things can be made difficult for them..

Nissan, Honda, Alfa, Saab, Volvo, Audi, BMW, Merc will all have adds where cars are tearing arounnd killing people, not a problem, because they are importers only, its much harder for the government to affect them.

Its just one way of how the government is trying to kill local manufacturering...
