Last night (in Perth) on Today Tonight there was a story on a family that bought a brand spankers new Holden Rodeo ute in the late 80's from some Holden dealer. The ute had a totally flawed steering setup and after a while of driving it, it failed. The guy who was driving it had no control and then it crashed, he suffered major head injuries and still suffers today. They took Holden to court and Holden have been fighting them from the late 80's up until now. Nice going Holden! Take an honest hard working family, screw their lives up, and then try and screw them over in court. Finally Holden settled with a pay out to them.
You would think that Holden being such a huge public company would have been able to handle this a bit better. It seems a total shame.....
i suppose in 5to10 years we will be watching something along the lines about the explorer
except it will not be one car but 1 milloin i think at last count
there all the same no matter the brand or company they only give a shit about the bottom line that day
Although the whole Ford Explorer thing was exposed publically as soon as it happened and Ford had to pay up big time, in recalls, payouts and probably poor sales. The Holden dealer tried to sweep it under the carpet. They actually got the wreckage of the ute from the NRMA and dumped it in some yunk yard for it to never to be found, although it was.
I do see your point though, we really don't know what shenanigans go on until someone exposes it to the public.
Today Tonight is truly a crass, inferior show based on an inferior journalistic (sic) format. I loved the way they mentioned the High Court as if anyone can just threaten with: "Don't sue me, I'll take you to the High Court". Before an appeal is heard by the High Court, leave to appeal must be granted; not an easy thing to procure.
Today Tonight makes ACA look like the 7:30 Report.
Holden don't assemble them do they? So I guess it could be caried over to Isuzu? Unless they take FULL cover for deffects..
It goes in the hands of lawyers, the longer it go's the more money they make. Then the more the victim suffers..

I am not sure with the Isuzu angle. I guess it must be Holden's responsibility as they are the ones with the court case and not Isuzu. Do Isuzu actually build the Rodeo body and assemble all of the other components such as the steering ? Or do they just supply the engine ?
Ford would probably have to take the blame if it was a Courier, but then Ford may take it up with Mazda as a separate matter. That is only my opion, not saying that this is what would happen. Does anyone else know for sure ?
