In last weeks age, Holdens Peter Hanenberger made a claim that Holden is the "only Australian company... with a heritage that nobody else has"

In this weeks letter section of the same publication a guy named Peter Rodgers from the FMC of Aus sent in a very nice reply that actually made print. (Paul must have been distracted to let this slip past.)
The best part of Rodgers reply was as follows: "At least Ford design a car from the ground up in Australia rather than just take a European design and tweak a panel here and ther."

Well done Mr Rodgers. I don't know what this guys position is in the company, but I like these open displays of passion by Ford staff.

Uh, Holden is the only local car company to have a true Australian heritage. It existed long before GM arrived to take it over, building bodies for imported chassies - coachwork ... Ford, Toyota, etc all simply moved in a set up shop. Sorry guys ...

Interesting to see the next all new Commode is starting from a clean sheet of paper... Be interesting to see how the Holden designers and engineers go having to use their own brains for a change..

Regardless of who was first, when Ford presence dates back to 1925 that is long enough to have a "true Australian Heritage".

Sorry man but I just can't agree with you on that one. Holden do have real Oz heratige but to say they are the only company to have true Oz heratige is just crap.
Ford have been building cars in Oz for 76 years. Sure they're a US based company, but Holden has been a US based company for over 50 years now as well. The Falcon is the only Australian car to be designed from the ground up in Australia for Australian conditions. The Commode is based on the Opel Omega then modified for Australian conditions.

Yep.. Apparantly it's in early design stages at present. Based on the GM Sigma platform I think??
