BA GT-HO

How does the TC in the VY cars work? My mate has just bought a VY SS and he says the accelerator pedal gets pushed back at you when it breaks traction. But the thing that got me was in the rain the whole car shook at the rear when the TC was activated.

It is like a thump, thump, thump that comes from the back of the car as if it is axle tramping. The whole car shakes! Is this just the TC system grabbing brake on each wheel trying to prevent slip or is this not normal? Does it also work in conjunction with ignition cut and even cylinder cut out? The manual for the VY also says that you may experience TC not being activated properly because it has to "warm sufficently before activation, usually 3-4 minutes." Is this all just a product of non fly-by-wire throttle control?

I know my BA is bloody awesome for TC, it is not really intrusive, real subtle. According to the manual it won't use brake as a means of TC above 40km/h. (this is what gets me about the VY - the whole car shakes at like 60/70km/h with TC working away..)

I remember gunning it up a hill in the wet in my BA and the TC was working overtime - you could clearly hear that it was running on 2 cyl as it sounded like a V8 Supercar with the pit lane limiter activated! Not having a go here, but the BA system seems much more sophisticated..

doesnt seem right! and that bit about it needing 3-4 mins to warm up, thats well, odd .

I read once that TC operates by actually applying the brakes to any wheels that it senses are just spinning, however i dont know if that's correct or not.

that sounds about right, the only tc that i have invovles tying a peice of string from my left teste to my right toe, that keeps you pretty honest without wearing out the brakes
